Architecture

  • Architecture (design and functional components)

The Memorial Museum is designed for the certain group. The double ceiling height hallway on the center of the building along the building shape separating the north side and south side functional spaces. The double ceiling Auditorium locates at the south-east of the building. Extra permanent galleries are on the second floor. The third floor will be the additional admonition rooms.

Building Enclosure

  • Building façades

Building façades are consist of metal panel wall siding and curtain wall system. The double ceiling Vestibule and auditorium are enclosed with prefinished aluminum curtainwall systems. A large fixed storefront system 136' - 2 1/2" x 9’-0” is on the south of the building façade at level 3.

  • Roofing

The typical roofing system is fully adhered membrane. Metal panel roofing system is used for vestibule with high temperature resistant, self-adhered. underlayment.

The design of the memory museum is intended to achieve LEED Silver.

Construction

The Memory Museum project will be delivered by design-bid-build method. Since the project just completed the bidding process at August. No other detailed information can be provided at this time because of the early phase of design.

Electrical

The electric utility power feeds the building from the main transformer located at the south-east corner. The main transformer is a 1600A, 3 phase and 4 pad mounted with a 480/277Y voltage. The transformer pad, pull vault, conduit, ground rods, services and utility meter as required by local city light. The system steps down to 208/120Y feeding the receptacles, emergency system, lighting and another specialty equipment load.

Lighting

LED fixture is the main lighting solution for the project in order to achieve the LEED Sliver. In order to reduce the cost, florescent lamp was applied to the third floor where is the administrator area. Lighting control solution is implemented to the Fjord Hall and Auditorium room. Daylighting control system is integrated with the electrical lighting for energy saving concerned. Emergency lighting system is designed as required by local city requirement.

Mechnical

The building is supplied with a combination of Heat Recovery Ventilator and Air Handling Unit. Six AHU provide a total 35,000 CFM to the Changing Exhibit, Exhibit Storage, Auditorium, and Kitchen. The HRV system is located at roof with a 15,000 CFM for building ventilation.

Primary Engineering System

Structrual

The building structure system is composed of structural steel, concrete and wood. The structural slab on grade is a typical 12-inch- thick reinforced concrete. The structural slab for the museum is 3-1/2 inch on a 3-inch composite steel deck. The auditorium mezzanine floor structural is ¾-inch tongue and groove plywood sheathing spanning between joists. Roof deck is minimum 3 inch x 18-gauge steel decking with acoustical cellular roof deck. Moment connection and steel bracing frame is typical structure system of the Memorial Museum.

Fire Protection

Automatic sprinkler system should be provided throughout all portions of the project design in accordance with the NFPA 13.2010. All the other sprinkler design feature should be accordance with the code, such as layout, condition, installation and etc. Furnish and install interconnecting control wiring and conduit between fire protection control panels, ventilators, and gas solenoid valve to shut down cooking equipment during fire system activation.

Transportation

There are four stair cases, two elevators in the building and two exterior stairs in the north of façade. The stair 1 and 2 is accessed to the public, connecting the first level for museum store, and exhibit to the second gallery level. The stair 3 and 4 is only accessed to the stuff which connect from level 1 to level 3.

Telecommunications

The floor telecom box is combination with electrical control. The outlet mounting height is 43 inches for card reader, 18 inch for telecom outlet and 43 inches for wall phone, usually coordinated with the mechanical and electrical equipment.
